The Globe Inn |
The Globe
Inn is a Lehigh Valley Bed and
Breakfast near the Pocono Mountains,
In the early 1900's when railroads were the popular mode of
transportation, weary passengers enroute to the Poconos and points north would
debark at the East Greenville Station for The Globe Inn. They were
warmly greeted and served a sumptuous meal in a "Victorian dining room" by waiters dressed in tuxedos and top hats. The basement rathskeller provided
conversation and spirits in a less formal atmosphere. A leisurely stroll through
the village past the Lorenz Carriage Company, the East Greenville Creamery, a
silent movie at the Palace Theater, or a trim of a gentleman's beard at the
Hotel tonsorial parlor ended the day before retiring to a handsomely appointed
suite. All in all a wonderful evening not to be forgotten!
Leisurely days can be spent in the beautiful Perkiomen Valley
which offers a wide variety of activities. Nearby Green Lane Reservoir Park
offers picnicking, boating, swimming, hiking, and birding. Several golf courses
and Dorney Park provide summer fun while Bear Creek and Spring Mt. ski areas are
just minutes away for winter activities. For the shoppers, art lovers and
history buffs, Skippack Village provides antique, specialty, craft, and
art shops that will delight you anytime of the year. Your stay at The
Globe Inn is sure to be an enjoyable experience that you will not soon
forget. For romantics of all ages, The Globe Inn provides an
intimate setting for that "Special Occasion"... honeymoons, anniversaries,
birthdays, Valentine's Day, or a well deserved get away weekend. The Globe's "Champagne Weekend
Package" makes the perfect gift. Private dining rooms provide the ideal
entertainment for a business meeting, luncheon, or dinner. A wedding reception,
rehearsal dinner, holiday party, or dinner with friends is always a memorial
event at The Globe Inn.
Well, we haven't forgotten either. Although the Palace
Theater and our livery stable are gone, The Globe perseveres a
century old tradition of personal service and excellence in dining and lodging.
Plus, now there is The Grand Theater right up on Main Street which has been
restored to its 1924 charm. You can relive the charm and elegance of days gone
bye in a "Period Suite" accented by a Jacuzzi, fireplace, and complete entertainment center. Our
Victorian dining room provides the perfect setting for a tempting variety of
entrees, cocktails, and desserts.
